The inception of Lighthouse Canton in 2014 is the culmination of an idea that had germinated many years ago given my experience in the financial industry.
It had been my dream to create a business where we could build sustainable partnerships with clients amid the changes in the industry by creating value for them.
With this in mind, I knew that the way to truly be able to achieve this was to build a business modelled around client centricity from the get-go – and this has been the foundation on which the firm has been built.

It is important for me that the value we promise our clients is not just lip service, but that we align our behaviour and incentives of the business with our clients’ satisfaction, trust and happiness.
Bearing this in mind, my fellow founding partners and I have thoughtfully and carefully curated our company’s vision and mission, as well as ingrained the five core values in each and every member in our firm to achieve this goal.
Over time, these core values have become our lighthouse, guiding our decision-making process, particularly when making tough decisions – so we can ensure that we uphold our clients’ trust in our commitment to always put their best interests forward.

The inspiration to create Lighthouse Canton stemmed from the large and growing client demand for high quality investment advice in Asia. We believe that Asia is on the cusp of massive wealth creation on a scale that the world hasn’t seen before.
Asia is already a larger economy than the US or the EU and is growing significantly faster. In the next twenty years, if Asia grows at 3% p.a., just the incremental GDP in Asia is expected to be larger than the entire current GDP of US. The implications are truly mind boggling.

On one side, this points to the large potential for profitable investment opportunities in this region. At the same time, the substantial wealth creation that is taking place in this region needs high quality investment advice.
One of the key challenges in addressing these needs is that Asia is not a homogenous market. It is a set of very diverse countries with different regulatory regimes, cultural backgrounds and challenges. Therefore, this region requires a nuanced approach and a high level of customization.
We realized that there is need for ‘home grown’ investment and wealth management services, particularly since many traditional global wealth and asset management models are struggling to cope with a multitude of challenges. Traditional business models are breaking down, or are significantly threatened, by technological and regulatory changes where the pace of change is accelerating.

With our footprint firmly set in Asia, we have started to look to Dubai as a gateway to Middle East & Africa. By setting up an office in DIFC, we look to address the growing need for investment management in these regions.
