Sunil Garg, Managing Director & Chief Investment Officer at Lighthouse Canton, shared a sharp outlook on the current market environment during his Bloomberg interview with Christine Burke. He emphasized that narrow market participation, with only a third of S&P 500 stocks above their 50-day moving average, reflects growing caution. With Q4 earnings and political uncertainties on the horizon, volatility is expected to persist. A shift from inflation to growth concerns is underway, with increased volatility in Fed messaging and potential rate cuts on the horizon. While treasuries could gain support as growth risks emerge, they remain a wait-and-watch opportunity. In Asia, China’s balanced approach to stimulus and focus on domestic consumption stand out as key growth drivers, placing it ahead of India in the short term. Despite India’s strong structural story, lofty earnings expectations and high valuations suggest caution. Sustainability and strategic positioning are essential as markets navigate these evolving dynamics.
