Shilpi Chowdhary, Group CEO at Lighthouse Canton recently shared his insights on CNBC Capital Connection regarding the current US economic landscape.

He highlighted the labor market as a critical factor, with recent data showing a weakening trend, raising concerns about economic health. The Fed’s upcoming actions, particularly anticipated rate cuts of up to 100 basis points, are contributing to market uncertainty. Despite the recent market rallies, they have been underpinned by weaker volumes and fading momentum in leading stocks. Lighthouse Canton remains modestly underweight on equities.

Shilpi Chowdhary also pointed out that the recent un-inversion of the yield curve is not a positive indicator for markets, signaling potential declines. Overall, the labor market remains a key determinant of consumption trends and economic direction.
