Sanket Sinha, Managing Director & CEO, Global Asset Management at Lighthouse Canton, joined CNBC’s Dan Murphy to share insights from SuperReturn Asia event in Singapore and the outlook for private markets.
He highlighted three themes that are driving sentiment:
- Rising interest in AI, with debate over backing innovators vs. commercializers.
- Growing demand for yield-driven strategies such as private credit and real assets, as investors move away from long-hold private equity.
- Increasing family office participation, with many adopting endowment-style models and making private markets a core allocation.
Sanket added that while the global private credit market is USD 1.8–2 trillion, Asia accounts for only 6–7%. Additionally, the share of private credit within the overall credit market in Asia has been at sub 25% compared to developed markets where the share of private credit is typically is around north of 50%, signaling vast growth potential. With rates declining, private credit’s appeal is set to rise as public market yields compress.
