[Part 2] On the Ground in India with Lighthouse Canton & SageOne Investment Managers

Is this India's decade? Despite global market dislocations and challenging market conditions, India's outlook looks relatively cheerier than most economies. Its GDP forecast for 2023 was only slightly downgraded by 0.6% by the International Monetary Fund to 6.8%. While other agencies are also still painting an optimistic picture at 7% or lower.

Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) have since started to shift their attention to India's markets. Just last month Asian Investor reported on how Canadian pension funds are making India a priority target, and according to reports, FIIs have invested US$5.81b into Indian shares in the September quarter, the highest since the quarter ended March 2021.

We chat to Samit Vartak, CIO and Founder at SageOne Investment Managers and he shares more about the Indian market to date and answers questions about India's economy such as:

  • What is the general outlook for the Indian Market?
  • Why is India's mid-small cap market more attractive than the large-cap market?
  • Which 3 sectors investors should keep an eye on?
